Since moving to Idaho we have tried to make our new house feel like a home. It’s just my husband and me, so we try to make each other feel special. In order to do so, we have adopted a couple of traditions to make sure we don’t get homesick. Some we do together, others we do separately.
Saturday Morning Breakfast.
This is a huge breakfast that we make and eat together. It usually involves coffee, pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Sometimes we switch it up with some bagels and lox, pastries, or a quiche. We always eat together though, with no phones around and talk. This is the most important part.
Taking the dogs for a long walk
Now that we have Auri it’s really hard for one of us to walk the dogs. Auri is still a puppy and not used to the leash so she ends up winding it around the person walking her. This annoys the walker and Tesla, our other dog. We make sure that after breakfast we make time for the dogs as well. Taking them on a long walk around the neighborhood gives us a chance to go out, explore our area and exercise the dogs.
Taking time for a bath and audiobooks
I am not usually a big fan of audiobooks, but I am a huge fan of baths and reading. I don’t trust myself not to get the book I am reading wet so turning on an audiobook is the next best thing. The bath usually consists of a bath bomb, bath salts, or bubbles (because you are never too old for bubbles!). This is a time I have for myself, no cats, dogs or husband. Just me relaxing. Trust me it is great for your mental health.
This list isn’t very long but it is something we do every weekend that is sort of becoming a tradition. Do you have any traditions you do on the weekends?
