Story Book Cosmetics Quill and Ink Set Review

2017-10-27 12.22.08

I am in love with Story Book Cosmetics designs. It’s everything I ever wanted a beauty product to look like. However what we need to know is that yeah It looks pretty but does it work well? So I got this recently on a sale from their website. I also got free shipping because I bought a couple of things. I know I am technically on a buying ban with the whole house thing but I really needed this!

Before we get to the nitty gritty of this review lets just admire the look of this yea?

2017-10-27 12.21.53

First of all it comes in this gorgeous tin as a set and I had to stand and just admire the look when I first opened it.

This brush is gorgeous and extremely soft bristled. It reminded me more of a lip brush than a line brush though.  I love that it comes with a base, but I got to make sure that I clean it before putting it away because I don’t want any gunk getting in to the base as it so tiny I think it will be hard to clean.

2017-10-27 12.23.04

While I love the look of the ink pot I have to say I was extremely disappointed at the size. This thing is tiny! A lot of people have complained about the lid not staying on, so far I have yet to have any problems with that. I do know that they revamped the top to make it a proper twist top and while not as pretty it apparently works well. Right now the only color they have is black but they are working on different colors and the next model will be able to be refillable. Anyone who purchased the old pot (this one) will get a discount on the refill purchase.

2017-10-27 12.26.06

The big question though is how well does it work? My answer, not very well. The brush is way too soft that it cannot be used with the ink pot at all. Plus the formula for this is very dry so it makes it hard to spread on the lids. I had to go over that line a couple of times (with one of my sturdier brushes) for it to even make that line. Do I regret buying it? Absolutely not! I will say though that until they improve the formula this is no where near ready to replace any of my other liners.

What do you think?

Milk Cosmetics *Cruelty Free*

2017-05-03 13.13.35

So you all know that I went to Sephora and got myself a couple of Birthday Presents. The Headliner kit from Milk was one of them. I’m trying to use more Cruelty Free products and when I saw this brand I pretty much fell in love. I so love simplicity and modern style so I was pretty excited to grab this little sample kit.

Milk Cosmetics prides themselves on being cruelty free and giving you the best make up technology with the most natural ingredients possible. They seem like a fun energetic brand.

Included in this kit are:

  • Cooling Water
  • Ubame Mascara
  • Dip Out Lip Color
  • Micellar Water Make up remover wipe.

2017-05-03 13.20.07

The Cooling Water is meant to be applied around your eyes when they are puffy or just when it’s a bit of a hot day and you need a bit of a refresher.

There’s no fragrance to the Cooling Water so you don’t have to worry about any unwanted smells

The Container is quick and easy to open and use plus you can just twist the bottom to push it up and get more.

I have yet to have to use this, however with the recent spike in temperature I may need to get this out.

The Ubame Mascara is made from Ubame Oak Charcoal and Sapphire dust. I’ve never heard of any of those products in a mascara before.

Once again no weird smell (yay)

The applicator is easy to use even if I did think it a little long, It brushed through my lashes pretty good and was very pigmented. It added both volume and length but not to the extreme.

The mascara was also very easy to take off with my make up eraser. so no lash pulling for me

This is a Vegan Product that includes ingredients like Shea butter and coconut oil. It is also suppose to a Melt Technology that makes it instantly glide over your lips no problem

This was super pigmented and I can tell that this lip color would last all day. Dip Out is a wine like color that is perfect for fall.

I wouldn’t necesscarily say this glided over my lips. The texture was super weird and because of the Demi-Matte finished (which honestly didn’t look DEMI matter but rather full matte) you were able to see every crack and line that my lip had to offer. Was not very flattering.

The Make up wipe has yet to be use, but I’ll keep it in my bag for one of those just in case situations. So what do you think about MILK cosmetics?.

Wet n’ Wild Perfect Pout Lip Gel Balm

I am still fighting a battle with dry lips. It seems as if no matter what I do I constantly feel like my lips are dry and peeling, which when you wear lipstick it seems to highlight these flaws. When I saw the Wet N’ Wild Perfect Pout Lip Balm I hoped I can heal my dry lips while sporting a bit of spring color. These are a Gel Lip Balm which I’ve never tried before. They glide on smoothly and are way more pigmented than I thought they would be.  The Vitamin E and Avocado Oil help with the much needed moisture for my lips.

I got these gorgeous shades on sale for $5 for both of these beauties. Tease is a pretty pale pink that thankfully does not wash out my lips, but it’s perfect for that everyday look that you just want that small pop of color. Love is a bit of a darker shade that’s great for going out on a night on the town. The one thing I wished these two balms had were lasting power. If I’m drinking coffee or eating I must immediately reapply as this wipes off super easy.

If your on a budget and need something moisturizing with a pop of color these two are your girls!

Wet n’ Wild MegaSlim Skinny Mascara Review

I’ve been looking for a mascara for the minimal make up days when all I want is a small pop of lash and a tinted lip balm, no flash or glitz. That’s why I picked up the Wet n’ Wild megaslim skinny mascara and it delivered on what I wanted. The small plastic wand is small enough to get the small stray lashes that try to evade the bigger brushes, but it is not too small where it doesn’t give enough coverage.

I will say that you will need more that two swipes to get full coverage, but the build up is easy and the formula does not make my eye feel gunky or sticky like some mascaras do. The skinny mascara give me natural looking lashes while subtly giving a bit of oomph! The removal is easy too, I didn’t have to pull on my lashes, and it didn’t give me huge raccoon eyes when I was washing my face.

You do have to remember this mascara is for a natural look with some definition, if you want full Hollywood glamour you should look else where.

Birthday Sephora Haul

Of course since my birthday just passed I needed to head to sephora for my yearly birthday. I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and buy two new brands I’ve never tried. Bite and Milk.

The Haul

  • Tarte scrub Clean Set
  • Milk Headliner set
  • Bite The perfect pair Amuse Bouche Lipstick
  • Sephora Collection Beauty on the Fly Bag
  • (Birthday Gift) Tart Creamy Matte Lip Paint

Not a huge haul but enough to wear I’ll be trying new things out for a while!

Cruelty Free Wet N Wild Make Up Haul

As I mentioned in this post HERE, while waiting for a prescription to be filled I decided to peruse the Make up aisle.

Recently I made a decision to be more conscious about Vegan and Cruelty free products. To my utter disappointment the only brand I was able to find that was Cruelty Free was Wet N’ Wild. Come on people it’s the year 2017 can be stop testing products on animals please!?

Anyway I do love Wet N Wild and I have featured some of their products on my blog before, plus they were having a buy 2 for $5 deal which was pretty awesome.

The Haul

2 Perfect Pout Gel Lip Balm in Tease and Love
MegaSlim Skinny Mascara in Black
The Saving Base Nail Polish
Hard As Ice Top Coat
Large Eyeshadow Brush
Foundation Brush
Flat Top Brush

I cannot wait to use all the products and let you all know how they work. I’m especially excited for the gel lip balms!

March Play! by Sephora unboxing

I was finally able to sign up for Play! by Sephora and I am so excited. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a beauty subscription, mostly due to limited funds, but am I slowly working back up again.

What’s in the box!?

This month’s theme is Get in the Glow, which focuses on finding a natural shimmer and glow to your normally dull complexion. Considering we are starting to transition from winter to spring I really like the theme to this box. I really love the small poster they include in the box that explains what products you got, why they included it, and how to apply it. It’s very easy to read, I don’t have to get my glasses or squint to read it.

I really love the bag that’s included with the box, but I have always had a thing for bags in beauty boxes.

Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer. This is suppose to help your complexion while giving you skin a bit of shine to take the dullness away. I really like the idea of this and hopes it works well. I’ve never used Glamglow before but I’ve seen them everywhere and I’ve been wanting to try one of their products for a while. Excited I get to finally try one of their products.

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s up! Cream-to-Powder highlighter I’ve used this before as I got it a long time ago in a Birchbox box. I ended up losing it and I was so sad since I used it almost everytime I wore make up. I love this stuff so the fact that I got another sample of it is great!

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm while it reads that you can use it as a primer or for a ‘finishing touch’ I think I want to use it as a finisher. I’ve never used anything like that before so I am super excited to try it out and see how it works. Apparently it’s a cream that you can tap onto your face with your fingers or a sponge. Kinda weird but I dig it.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow stick in Golden Pink While pink is in the color name it looks more gold than anything. I didn’t do a swatch of it because I want to try it out and see how it looks at a later time and maybe review it. While I’ve used a couple of Bobbi Brown products before I’ve never used a shadow so I am super interested in it.

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast I am constantly having flat hair problems. If I curl my hair it falls flat in about an hour, if I brush my hair it goes limper than a naked man in the arctic, it’s not fair. I am so glad that Sephora included this in their box, the one thing I am worried about however is the that the product is oil-based so I hope it does not turn my hair in a oily mess.

Chloe Fleur de Parfum honestly I am not so happy about this product, but that does not mean I won’t try it out. I tend to have allergy problems to floral scented perfumes and this is supposed to be floral but it also has top notes of Lemon essence so I am hoping it’s not too overbearing

Overall I am happy with this months box. What do you think of the products in Play! by Sephora march box? Have you used any of them?

Make Up Cuts 2

2016-09-10 12.17.48

As you know from my first post Make up cuts 1 I am trying to go through the enormous amount of make up I have collected and just get rid of those I know I did not like, I don’t use or is just not the colors for me. So I have a couple of more products to bring to you.

2016-09-10 12.18.24

Covergirl Plumpify Blastpro Mascara

This was such a disappointing mascara. It was suppose to  add volume to my lashes, and while it did add some volume it didn’t really do anything to them. Waste of money.

2016-09-10 12.18.41

Mullein & Sparrow all nature lip and cheek tint

I really wanted to like this product. It’s vegan friendly and cruelty free so when I got the product in one of my beauty subscription boxes I was excited. I tried it on my cheeks first and the color just wasn’t me. I decided to use it on my lips and just made it feel unpleasant and scratchy.

2016-09-10 12.18.56 2016-09-10 12.19.16

BH Cosmetics California Collection sample

I also got this product in one of my beauty subscription boxes, I however just didn’t get around to using it, and just never felt the need to. I will say I did try it once, but wasn’t too big a fan. Plus I have so many shadows that I really love to use that these sort of just got put on the wayside.

So far I know I haven’t made too much of a dent in my current stash, but they say ‘slow and steady wins the race’ (I know I’m not racing but whatevs)

Do you have any products your getting rid of?

Five Friday Faves

Heres another Five Friday Faves. If you missed last weeks, it’s no sweat you can read that HERE

Pizza and Beer
Apparently this is now my favorite combination of Food and Drink. I am usually more of a Fish and Martini or a Pasta and Wine kinda girl, but if my recent trip to Boise had taught me anything is that a great pizza and beer on tap can be the absolute best.

Benefit Play Stick*
This is so easy to use, it’s saved me a lot of time getting ready. I don’t want to give too much away since I will do a full review of this and post it soon.

Five Friday Favorites

So in hopes of trying to be more positive and Look at what I have rather than what I want or has lost, I’ve decided to start doing Five Friday Favorites. Hopefully it will let me look at what I have and be able to be happier and content with everything. Will I do this every friday? Maybe, maybe not. I’m trying not to micromanage my life as much!

Wheaten Sweatshirt
My Wheaten sweatshirt. Tesla is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier mix. It’s not a really big breed as most people actually have never heard of it so imagine how excited I am to find a sweatshirt that can represent where she is in my life

bridal Set

So guys, I’m a horrible person. I lost my wedding ring. I fell horrible and I have not been able to find it. I went insane looking around my house and pretty much went into a depressed despair when I could not locate it. Not having my wedding ring on my finger feels so foreign and strange. I’ve gotten so used to having my gorgeous ring on my finger that without it… I finally broke down and got a bridal set. Having something on my finger that helps show how much love my husband I am have for each other has really increased my mood.

Tennis shoes

Did you know I’ve never owned a casual tennis shoe. All my tennis shoes are for running, weightlifting or playing tennis. Honestly I never knew that casual sneakers exsisted (I know sounds like I  have been living under a rock). I love these shoes! They are oh so comfortable, they are stylish and I feel cool wearing them. Plus I love the hightops!

Instanatural micellar water

I love Micellar water. It’s helped keep my face refreshed and hydrated with the summer heat, I don’t know how I went so long without using it! It cleans make up off my face, while cleansing and keeping my face looking great. I seriously cannot stop boasting about this!

NYX wonder stick

Last but not least my NYX Wonder stick. I’ve been trying my hand at contouring and highlighting, while I am not the best at it and still learning the tricks this is so easy to use. The ease of which I can use the wonderstick helps with my less then knowledgeable skills in this area. I’m still debating if I want to do a in depth review. Let me know if you want and I will definitely whip one up for you all.

What are you Five Friday Favorites?
