One of things I have to do, but hate to do is clean my brushes. It takes me a long time to clean them and it takes me a long time to dry them. I’ve seen a couple of mechanical make up cleaners on the scene, but honestly they are way past my budget. I spotted this beauty on Amazon and it was in my budget. Now Amazon is usually hit and miss when it comes to certain things.
The mechanical part is not that bad. It looks nice but it’s not ergonomic or anything. After locating 2 AAA batteries (took me a couple of days) I found out that I can only use this in short burst because the vibration of the motor makes my hand really tired.
The little bowl that you add the water and cleaner is nice and big. You actually don’t need that much water to clean so no need to fill it up too much.
The little grips that you put your brushes in fits most (but not all) brushes. I found that it did not fit my real technique brushes at all. Wonder if you can get other attachments. This worked really well on my big and medium size brushes but any small brushes, like a small concealer brush did not clean all that well. Overall, I think it was worth the money I paid for it. If I have to clean one of two brushes on my own it’s no problem as long as this cleans a majority of them.
I had really high hopes for this mask. I’ve been seeing Sand & Sky Purifying Pink Clay Mask everywhere and I really want to try it. I finally got a sample in my Birchbox. I used it on a particularly bad skin week, the winter weather was especially brutal on my skin and I could physically feel my skin becoming horrid.
I was really surprised at how runny this was. Typically clay masks are thick and smooth.
The mask did go on smooth, but I was surprised at how light the pink coloring was, it looked always white. It came off super easy, so I didn’t have to scrub at my skin.
Sand & Sky boasts that this mask reduces pores, brightens & detoxifies skin. I can say that my skin looked amazing after use. It pretty much caused my brittle, cracked, dry and porous skin to do a 360. I am seriously debating if $50 is worth it for this mask because I really liked it and may purchase it. I would love to see how this mask does after multiple uses.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a music post and I think it’s due time I post one. Music has always been a love of mine, I may love it more than my husband but I mean it is it really in the same category? Oh well, forget I said anything.
Anyway here is my top ten songs I am currently in love with.
River – Eminem; Ed Sheeran
I Fall Apart – Post Malone
Homemade Dynamite – Lorde; Khalid; Post Malone; SZA
My God has a Telephone – The Flying Stars of Brooklyn, NY
I’ve made it a goal of mine to use all my samples up since I have so many and I foresee myself getting more especially since I plan on getting another beauty subscription (any recommendations will help!). So I just want to share with you all my empty samples and my thoughts on them. I don’t have too many but I am trying.
I got a sample of this yaby foundationa while back and I wanted to use it. I was really surprised at how cakey this felt on my face. It was heavy and I really didn’t like it. I wont be purchasing this that is for sure.
I feel like everyone has gotten a sample of theBalm Put a Lid on It. the eye primer wasn’t too bad and did it’s job after 9 hours at work it did start to wear off a bit, but I have really oily lids so it is hard for me to find a primer that lasts all day. I may purchase this if it goes on sale.
the Naobay Oxygenating cream is the best product out of the three. A little cream went a long way and this sample actually lasted longer than I thought it would. It left my skin feeling very soft and hydrated. I think I would purchase this.
So E.L.F has really upped their game lately and I am really impressed. How they are able to provide quality items but still staying affordable is beyond me. a while ago they stepped into skincare and I knew I immediately wanted to try them out. I purchased 4 of their products to share with you all, but their range is bigger and I can’t wait to try their others.
e.l.f. Illuminating eye cream is only $10 which for how much you get is a pretty great deal. This cream is in their oily skin line and is meant to help with dark circles and hydrate. Containing ingredients like jojoba and cucumber it is safe for sensitive skin. While it does help with dark circles it felt a little greasy when I applied it to the skin underneath my eye. It did go away but it took longer than I would have liked to soak in.
e.l.f Nourishing night cream available for $12, is surprisingly hydrating, and I found a little goes a long way. This absorbs quicker than the eye cream and does not have that greasy feeling. I found it be very good on my sensitive skin, this also has jojoba and cucumber but you can feel the aloe and shea butter as well. This is a winner.
e.l.f Daily Hydration moisturizer is available for $8, I use this in the morning and I found myself using slightly more of this moisturizer than the night cream. This does have the same ingredients as the other products with added grape antioxidants and bilberry to round it out.
e.l.f soothing serum is available at $12 and meant to help sooth and strengthen the skin. I really like this for the winter months as an extra hydration boost. Since my skin gets super dry in the winter this helps a lot.
I can’t say enough how much I love e.l.f and their products. You will definitely be seeing more of their skincare line on this blog as time goes on. I can’t wait to see how they expand. I want to try their melt cleanser and bubble mask.
Usually, on this blog, I like to talk about things I like or at least things that are okay. When I review products I like to tell you all the positives as well as the negatives to let you develop your own opinion. However, there are some products that just perform so awful that it upsets me. I hate using my money and getting a product that doesn’t work or breaks or just makes false claims.
So I decided to put it into a sort of Hall of Shame. If these products worked for you let me know! Maybe I just got a one-off and I should try it again.
This month there were just two so it wasn’t too bad.
First, off the NYX Epic Black Mousse Liner, I was so mad when I opened this and it was dried and unusable. It had shriveled up and looked like a sad piece of coal. There was no way of using it. While I love NYX products, and I had such high hopes for this liner, I couldn’t help but be discouraged by this. I actually got it from an NYX store so I can’t blame a drugstore or whatnot on stocking old products.
The second was theBalm Mr. Write (now) this thing was solid and refused to line. I tried on my hand multiple times, I even tried cutting the tip and using a lighter to melt it slightly. It was just too much of a hassle and such a disappointment. I don’t use theBalm products often because they are slightly pricey for me, so I took a chance on it and it seemed to just bite me in the butt.
Don’t worry I am not writing the brands off *yet* just these particular products.
have you used any products that were not up to snuff?
I want to use more cruelty free products and in searching for new shampoo and conditioner and I discovered Grace & Stella Co.
They have Argan Oil, Jojoba oil, Macadamia Seed Oil, Shea Butter, and Aloe. Which Promotes hair growth, Healing, Moisture and hydration, reduce flakes, and promotes shine.
I have got to say that it does almost all it states it does. I have not used it enough to see if my hair has grown any faster than it usually has, but my hair is shiny and soft. It seems to be repairing the damage I did earlier. The down side is that my hair seems to be holding a lot more static than it normally does. It bothers me a little, this of course won’t be a problem once winter passes. This is an annoyance none the less.
I did not do too well in 2017. I sort of threw all the resolutions I had out the window. I lost a lot of motivation and really just stopped taking care of myself. I am hoping to change all that. It will require a lot of work on my part physically and mentally but I am willing to try (there is no try, only do or not do. Totally quoted that wrong…)
So this is a general resolutions list really.
Be more Active!
Drink more water
Don’t be afraid to try new things
Post more on the blogs.
Take more time for yourself
So that’s my list. I will start with small goals that eventually lead to a bigger goal. I’ll try to keep track of any progress so that I can keep you all updated!
So, the only person who gives me presents anymore is my husband. I’m 30 years old so except for the occasional cookies from coworkers, a gift card from work client, or a Christmas card from a family member I don’t get much in the way of gifts. S I guess this makes it a hubby haul? wait, actually that just makes me sound like I practice Polyandry. I don’t I am a one woman man… or you know the other way around. I really should stop typing. So this is mostly just a picspam post. I will most likely be reviewing these items, so if there is something you want me to review (or swatch) first, let me know!
As you can see I’m going to be having a lot of fun trying out my new goodies.
