So I decided to try again! Last time it didn’t really work as well as I wanted. I think it was partly my fault, I don’t think I applied myself as much as I wanted considering that I thought there would be a stigma involved with having to find a friend online. This time, well to be perfectly honest I could careless what people think, in the world where online dating has become the norm, why shouldn’t I use the internet to find friends?
I moved to a new area where the only person I know is my husband and it is so hard to make friends. I picked 3 sites to help me accomplish this;
This site is like a dumbed down twitter where you post and people can respond and hopefully you establish a connection. It’s a little weird as you need to really work and reach out. I thought this would have been good as a mobile app, but I couldn’t find one. I am not always on to be able to check but hopefully I can put myself out there.
I am much more familar with this site since it is one I have used in the past. It works more like a dating site, where you can get matched with another women in your area and message each other if you feel you would be friends. I like this format better than GirlFriend Circles but we can see which actually helps me make friends.
This one unlike the other 2 is not just limited to women, but for males too. While I am open to making friends of any gender I think I am more comfortable with meeting (right now) meeting someone of the same gender as me. This has more of a search function so you can pick the gender, age and location of the friends you want to meet. Unfortunately there were not a lot of people in my area, but we will see
So those are the sites I’m trying right now, but I will continue to try new sites and perhaps even try to start conversation outside in the real world. I’m just looking for open minded individuals who love eating and reading. I also want someone around my age 25-35. Hopefully this goes well!
Wish me Luck?
It looks like somewhere in the past year or so I’ve lost contact with myself. In between the grind of working, school and just adulting in general, I’ve stopped doing the things I love to do. My make up and clothes collection has gone untouched, I stay inside all day and have stopped using social media completely. I don’t read or even I don’t even window shop anymore. I’ve also stopped blogging.
While none of these are really bad things, as they are not hurting anyone really. I like doing those things, I’ve never been the type to go out in public in sweats and my hair not brushed. I hate to be sloppy, but it’s someone I have become. I came to this realization a couple of weeks ago, when I realized I gained a whole bunch of weight and that my closet full of pretty clothes and shoes have gone untouched. I looked in the mirror and realized that the person in front of was unrecognizable and not who I want to be.
It’s no one’s fault but my own and I am the only one who can fix it.
So slowly I’ve been setting aside time to make sure I start doing the things I love again. Like, applying a touch of mascara in the morning or taking some time before bed to catch up on reading.
Honestly I can feel myself slowly coming back. Hopefully this means that blogging regularly will start being a thing but we will see. In the meantime I just have to patient.
I am back and I am so happy to be blogging. Finals are over and I have the whole summer to bring my blog up to something I love. This summer I wanted to focus more on my health, mental and physical. So of course I need to get me some new clothes! Seeing a chance to get some bright colors into my wardrobe I jumped at a chance to pick up this front zip sports bra. I was surprised that the material was soft and stretchy, so putting on my bright unicorn leggings I tried to put on this matching bra…
It wouldn’t zip…
This was my size, it was not too small. The zipper just kept getting stuck. When the zipper finally did zip up it broke. I was so disappointed. This is such a cute bra and the bra itself seems like it was made with some nice quality material. I guess they cheapen out on the zipper. It felt like a plastic zipper toy. Had the zipper worked I would have jumped at the chance to recommend this product with no problem. As of right now I say you can try your luck and see if maybe I just have bad luck, cause I kinda do to be honest.
I am going to try to fix this because it looks like such a pretty and great bra to workout in. Just wish they would have gotten a better zipper. You can try your luck and see if this was just a faulty one. Purchase the bra HERE
I am trying to be better at washing my brushes. I got a bush cleaner and all I needed was Brush Shampoo, however to buy one is so expensive! I couldn’t believe how much they cost, I was about to just use baby shampoo when I found Ecotools Brush Shampoo . It was only $4 and it works really well!
My brushes get really clean and I was actually surprised, but I realized that Ecotools make brushes so they should know exactly how to clean them without ruining them. I recommend trying this out!
I was at Walgreen and I saw this on sale for $.99. I like to use bath bars when I am taking a bath. It’s easy to use a bar in a bath as opposed to the shower. In the shower the bar gets drenched, there are no places to put the bar to protect it from the water, and it’s just easier to use in the bath. I used a gel cleanser in the shower. This bar intrigued me because it contains almond milk and oil extracts as well as honey extracts. There is also Shea butter as well.
There was not too much of a smell, it was slightly sweet but mostly had a very soft almond smell. The bar was smooth but when you start washing yourself you do feel small almond pieces that exfoliate your skin. It did a good job washing my skin without drying it out like most soap bars do. However, it was not as moisturizing as I would have liked, but compared to other bars did a pretty okay job. I don’t regret buying it at all especially since it was on sale. I will continue using it and may try other bars from Yardley
I have a low pool of friends, so any I get I need to keep. Since moving to Idaho I have not really had a chance to grow relationships like I want, but I also have to remember that I still have friends back home. So I have a couple things I am doing to make sure I keep my long distance friends
I am not a phone talker. The only person I call is my mom and my husband. I am very awkward on the phone mostly because I get distracted or the phone breaks out and I end up asking or saying the same thing multiple times. Texting is easy though and a quick ‘How’s your day going?’ really does go a long way. Maintaining communication is key and you can’t get lazy. If you are forgetful set up a quick weekly alarm to make sure you check in.
Plan a Skype call
My best friend and I Skype every Friday to play board games. It’s fun and we talk and drink a little wine. While I wish we were together in person this gives us a chance to do something different while also keeping in touch. Plus we can see each other and any physical changes that can occur.
Stay active on Social Media
Honestly I don’t really like Facebook, but it is crucial when I want to stay up to date on family events and friend events. I only have Family and friends on facebook and I make sure that I keep my personal social media separate from my blogs. Not because I am ashamed of my blog, but so I can get information when I want it. Instagram and snapchat are key as well.
I am a gamer plain and simple. I also have friends who play games. Playing MMO games are a great way to stay active with friends and open doors to meeting more people. If you don’t play games that is fine, but if you do definitely do multiplayer games.
So I’ve purchased a few new things and I wanted to share with you. Recently my Walgreens have started stocking Soap & Glory as well as No7. So you know I had to try out some products!
Here’s What I got!
Soap & Glory – Hand Food
Soap & Glory – The Rightous Butter
Biore – Nose Strips
Physician’s Formula – Rose All Day Serum
No7 – Intense Volume Mascara in Brown/Black
I cannot wait to try these out and share with you! Have you tried any of these products?
So, I wanted to redesign my blog to suit how I want to be rebranded. Unfortunately, it’s taking longer than I would like. I wanted to have a grand opening, but I decided instead of letting my blog sit unused I wanted to start posting again! Well it’s March, my birthday month! I’m turning 31 and I really want to start being the person I want to be end up being. I am hoping to do more outdoor activities and more lifestyle aimed posts while still doing beauty and fashion. So stay tuned!
Also, if there is something that you want to see on this blog I would love to hear all about it!
So with our new house, I finally get my chance to have my own vanity! With all the beauty products I have, I really need a place to store them so they aren’t just stuffed in places. Out of sight out of mind usually applies to this and I don’t want a product I have to go bad because I ignored it.
This project is going to cost money but in order to minimize the cost I like to shop around at second-hand stores, plus my overall theme will be vintage and where else can I get actual vintage products than a thrift store?
I spotted these two glass jars for $2 each and I knew I had to have them.
The details on the lids are gorgeous and very well made. The jars themselves actually have some heft to them. While yes they are made of glass I know they are more delicate but they look so pretty that I know I will have to take care of them. I am currently using them for cotton balls but I may change my mind and use them for something else.
What do you think I should use them for?
After I use any clay masks or Detox masks I always use a Sheet Mask. It is typically the best way to moisturize my face after going through a harsher mask. After using the Pink Clay mask I picked this beauty up to try out.
There was so much essence in the pack, and when I took the mask out it was drenched. This of course made the mask a bit hard to unfold as it kept sticking together. It also made it ridiculously easy to stay on my face.
While it fit pretty well over most of my face, it did not cover my nose at all, which was a bit disappointing as my nose is usually the place that I have no problem with. I left the mask on for around 30 mins and it still was pretty wet when I took it off. My face felt amazing though! so soft, smooth and hydrated. I think I dare even say one of the best sheet masks I have ever used. I know Kohls sells this for around $3.99 which isn’t too bad. I will definitely be buying more once I run out of masks.
