One of the (only) things I have in common with my dad is my love for music. It was one of the only ways I could really bond with him, and even now at 31 years old it is one of the things I can talk to him about. Below is the list of bands that no matter what decade, or how old I am I can always listen to.
John, Paul, George, and Ringo are the core 4 and the first band crush I ever had. Their songs evoke every emotion I have and no matter what mood I am in The Beatles will always have a song for it.
This hip shaker would always have a special place in my heart. His music is fun and ageless. A Little Less Conversation was one of the first songs I remember singing with my dad, so maybe I may have a bit bias to it and him.
I don’t know what it is about Coldplay that makes me just absolutely love them, but I do. Every song just reaches my soul and makes me feel something. Plus, Chris Martin smiling just makes my day.
Growing up in California by beachside in the 90s, of course, I listened to Sublime. So naturally now, living in Idaho I can’t change any song that comes on by them as nostalgia hits and I do get a tiny bit of longing towards the coast.
Yes, I can be a bit of a metal head and I even went and watched them live. One of the best concerts I have gone to hands down. The music is amazing as well as the lyrics to all of their songs. Also the voice of Bruce Dickinson just may be my absolute favorite.
Another band whose concerts I make sure to go. The love for the band is one of the first times I actually felt a connection with my husband, so much so that we used one of their songs for our first dance.
I’ve actually never done a post like this but it has been done by bloggers for a long time so I decided ‘why not?’, since it looks like a lot of fun and gives some details into my life.
In the spring and summer I like using small bright purses (as well as tote bags) to carry around my things. This is mostly because I am a lot more mobile during these times, especially since the weather is awesome.
Using a small purse also helps me carry a lighter load and filter out the trash and products that I don’t need at the moment. I am currently using this cute pink purse (which you can purchase here). I purchased it on discount and I love it. The straps are long enough to use it like a cross body but I love the size and look. There is a small zipper pocket inside which carries the necessities. I like the minimalist design, since it only has a small crown on it, I picked pink because I don’t have many purses this shade, but it is super cute. I wasn’t worried about it looking like a child’s purse either since it is big enough to be different. Either way I love it! It also comes in a couple different colors if pink isn’t your favorite.
Got this wallet for only $10. Love the cute pineapple print and it matches the brightness of my purse!
Of course I have to have my sunglasses, considering that Independence day is in July I like to use these babies.
Hand lotion is a must in my purse especially since I am constantly using it through out the day, currently I am using Nivea soft hands moisturizer. I don’t like the twist off top but it is great travel size. For my lips I am using Vasoline creme brulee lip therapy and when I want to add I little color I use elf lip balm tint in a pretty rose color.
These are the necessities that have to have in every purse, tampons, advil and a hairtie! What do you have in your purse?
As a music lover I have a playlist for every occasion, so on those days where I let the gloom get the best of me I have a playlist I can put on that makes me happy. Some are for nostalgia and some are upbeat, of course all these songs are personal preference. So if you agree great! if not tell me the songs you like. FYI this is not the full list, just 5 songs from the list.
All Star – Smash Mouth
Odds Are – Bare Naked Ladies
Good to be Alive (Hallelujah) – Andy Grammer
Buddy Holly – Weezer
Have it all – Jason Mraz
If you don’t have a happy playlist, I suggest you get on your way to making one. For me personally it really lifts my mood.
I haven’t had much time to take pictures of me wearing the clothes, since surprisingly I have been extremely busy. I am trying to wear less black and different types of sandals than flip flops. I’ve been going for more lightweight shirts, and I really love this one I recently purchased from HERE while I did not like the fact I had to order up, I did fall in love with it. The shirt is made of 95% Viscoce, 5% Spandex and has this weird combination of being clingy but loose. The shoes are a taupe wrap sandal from bamboo that is extremely comfortable. I love the simple yet stylish look of them. The shorts are old from Cotton on but they are really comfortable and perfect for a day of relaxing or walking around the farmers market (which is how I have been spending my days). I went with a comfortable style and didn’t go for accessories mostly because I wanted to be simple. I used a tote bag to complete the look.
I love masks, as almost everyone I know does. Not only do they help your skin, but they are fun to use. I recently purchased this e.l.f Mattifying Mask and I really wasted no time in using it. I really love clay masks but they can break the bank, seeing that e.l.f Cosmetics has this beauty for only $8 you know I had to get it. Apparently it has French Green clay, which is a little weird since the mask isn’t green, but It is what it is. This mask deep cleans your skin while minimizing the appearance of pores, which I recently have been having a problem with. Plus with summer my face tends to look shiny so I hoped this would help. Plus it’s vegan and cruelty free so Hello? a win-win all around.
The mask was easy to spread across my face and was smooth in texture. Plus I realized early on that a little actually goes a long way, which is great. It makes me optimistic that this mask would last me a while. It took around 10 mins for it to dry completely, which is fast as most clay masks take at least 15. my face was not shiny at all and I noticed a different with my pores. My skin was also very smooth, and not dry at all like most other masks. This would be a great morning mask to use on those light make up days. When I am out I am most certainly repurchasing!
I cannot believe that it is already July. June seriously just came and went. Maybe because I was super busy this month, I went out more and just was trying to keep an all around positive mood. Trust me this helps.
Octopus Takoyaki – Rave:
I love street food! Not only is it made right when you order it, but it is affordable and so good. While the Takoyaki pictured here is Octopus, next to it you also have Sweet pork dumplings. Yum!
Pineapple Earrings from Charming Charlies – Rave:
Love these little things. They are just studs but I love pineapples and they add a pop of color to any dull outfit.
So I haven’t had any time to read, and it makes me feel guilty and stupid. I know I shouldn’t think that way but it does. I will be setting aside some time to read through, just because I do love to read and I really miss it.
Hard Cider – Rave:
I am loving Hard Cider. I’ve never really had it before but Idahoans seem to love it and well now so do I!
So that is all for rants and raves not too many things but that’s okay.
I am not a huge lash wearer, mostly because I don’t have to the time to shape the lashes, apply the glue, and place them on my lid. My hand-eye coordinate is not great btw. When I magnetic lashes floating around I was super curious. So, when I had a chance to try some, I jumped at the chance!
First of all, no glue. That means I won’t get my lid all sticky because I over glued my lashes. My kids won’t stick together, and my lid won’t feel as heavy. Second of all, this should be easy to put on and take off without pulling out your real lashes. Third, I want booming glam lashes!
The lashes are soft, long and a little fragile, so when don’t pull too hard when you remove them from the case. There are 4 lashes because you need 2 for each eye, because hello, magnets! How else are they suppose to stick? Due to the placements of the magnets, you can’t really cut them to fit your eye size, so you just have to adjust them so they don’t stick out too far. The length was okay for my eye though so no complains, however, if my lashes were just a little smaller the lashes may have been too long. Not sure how it would have looked.
The lashes were a bit hard to put on, mostly because I could not keep the top lash steady enough to put the bottom lash on. Using two hands was really difficult and my face felt crowded. I was also very worried I was going to pinch my lids. Ultimately I finally got it. A couple of tricks are first putting a light coat of mascara to keep the top lash in place, which will make it easier to place. Then snap each magnet one at a time. If you need to take the lashes off, do not pull rather rub the lashes between your fingers and they come right off.
It does take a little getting used to, as they are actually not on your lid at all but rather on your lashes. Eventually, you do get used to them which is great! If you would like to try these lashes out, you can purchase them HERE
I have quite a few purses. I like having them, and like sunglasses, they can be colorful and extremely expressive. However, I noticed something when looking through them the other day. I have a ridiculous amount of tote bags
I think every woman should have a tote bag for those summer beach days, but I may have too many. How I got them? I am not sure. Will I stop getting them? Absolutely not. I like the idea of just tossing my wallet and a couple of essentials into a tote bag and heading out on an adventure, plus I like to have different ones to choose from. Having a tote bag for every. Considering how fickle my mood can sometimes be, I really actually need multiple ones.
I will say that I don’t use tote bags for any “fancy” times, but using one during spring and summer can make a rather dull outfit fun! What do you think about tote bags?
