What My Hubby Got Me For Christmas!

So, the only person who gives me presents anymore is my husband. I’m 30 years old so except for the occasional cookies from coworkers, a gift card from work client, or a Christmas card from a family member I don’t get much in the way of gifts. S I guess this makes it a hubby haul? wait, actually that just makes me sound like I practice Polyandry. I don’t I am a one woman man… or you know the other way around. I really should stop typing. So this is mostly just a picspam post. I will most likely be reviewing these items, so if there is something you want me to review (or swatch) first, let me know!

December Birchbox Unboxing

2017-12-20 16.28.19

This is the last Birchbox for a long time, I remember it being so much better than it is. Plus their reward system changed so much. While yes $10 is still a great price for a beauty subscription, but I just haven’t enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. Either way, December’s box is all about festive vibes.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution

This no-rinse make-up remover soothes and cleanses skin using micelle technology and cucumber extract. Soak a cotton pad and gently sweep over skin

I really like micelle water I use it quite a bit, so getting this is pretty good.

Davines MINU Illuminating Shampoo

This eco-friendly shampoo gently cleanses strands without stripping color. As a result, hair is left shiny and refreshed. Plus, the crisp citrus scent can’t be beat.

More Shampoo. Yay? I know sarcasm doesn’t transfer well to text but still, I needed to get that out. I got shampoo in my last box, and while I do like the brand I just didn’t want more shampoo. If this was a dry shampoo I would have liked it better.

Davines Minu Illuminating Conditioner and Hair Serum.

Infused with protective caper blossom extract, this conditioner tames tangles, leaves hair soft and silky, and helps keep color vibrant for longer.

OKay, I voiced my displeasure about getting a nice sample of shampoo and a packet of conditioner. I didn’t like it then, and I don’t like it now.

This lightweight leave-in treatment helps keep color from fading while boosting your strands’ shine. Bonus: This fresh citrusy scent smells delightful.

I don’t mind getting serums in packages, I really like getting serums actually.

Lord & Berry Magic Brow Pencil

News flash: Your brow hairs are not all one shade. This marbled tip on this pencil helps to mimic dimension and the creamy texture makes it oh-so easy to apply.

So I really like using Benefit for my eyebrows, and I don’t really like using pencils. This does make me curious especially with the marbled tip.

MAC Cosmetics False Lashes Mascara

This mascara’s brush delivers volume, curl, and lengthened lashes with its densely distributed bristles. The pigmented and thickening formula creates a full feathered effect.

This was my Sample Pick from Birchbox because I am kind of a Mascara Addict. I really hope it works well, it will actually be the first MAC mascara I’ve tried.

Sand & Sky BRilliant Skin Purifying Pink Mask

Detoxify and brighten your complexion with this mask made from Australian kaolin clay, organic aloe vera, and Kakadu plum. Apply to clean skin, let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse.

I am actually pretty excited to use this. I’ve heard really good things about it, so I am hoping it works well.

2017-12-20 16.43.48

In this months Birchbox every subscriber got an eyelash curler. Good thing too because I needed to replace mine.

So While this month’s box wasn’t bad, it just didn’t hold my attention. I’ll keep looking though see what else I can find.

#SkincareSaturday Rose Face Mask by Fresh

So in my quest to use up all my samples, I discovered that I had this face mask. I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time, so happy I have it. So it has a heavy floral smell but I think you guys already figured that out.

Made with Rosewater, cucumber, algae, and green tea this is supposed to sooth, tone, brighten, hydrate and protect. I used it after a long bath after washing my face. It was cold on my face and did feel good. My face was smooth too! however it really irritated my sensitive skin, I ended up getting red bumps that took a couple of days to go away. I am so disappointed that I am going to have to toss this out. I was thinking about trying it again, just to make sure but I really do not want to experience that again.

If you used this before let me know if it worked, I’m really interested to see how it worked. It’s a bit pricey 100ml for $62 so I guess I’m a bit happy I didn’t fall in love with it considering.

#ManicureMonday Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat

Over the course of a week I broke 3 nails, this, of course, required me to drastically shorten my nail length. So I decided that I need to strengthen my nails a bit. This is where the perfect formula Pink Gel Coat comes in. This polish is supposed to infuse protein into your nails to Strengthen and seal your nails so that when you’re trying to get your new puppy into her playpen, or trying to stop your cats from climbing your Christmas tree you won’t break a nail. Now while it does say pink, when you put the polish on your nail it is a very light pink that you see. No hot or neon pink. It’s more like a baby pink. It lasts about a week and while they state that you only need 1 coat I do recommend two. Hopefully but using this baby my nails won’t break when I am trying clean up the various bones and toys around the house. The cost is really steep, $30 for this baby, but if it works it should be worth it right?

How you every used a Perfect Formula Nail Polish? How did you like them?

#ManicureMonday Aurora Gel Effect

2017-11-27 16.20.53

Since it’s getting closer to Christmas I wanted to wear red nail polish. I only really have 2 red polishes something that I need to rectify and soon. I picked the Aurora Gel Effect in Flaming Red because I want to see if it was really close to Gel. It’s an orangey red that stands out. It doesn’t require a UV light which is great. The polish is thinner than I thought it would be. I was hoping that the polish would only require one coat, but you need at least 2 to thoroughly coat your nails. It was a bit streaky, probably because of the thinness of it. It did, however, last a long time and didn’t start to chip until the 5th day of wear. While it isn’t as good as having gel done in the salon, it is a close second. I’ll definitely check out the different colors, but Vampire Red has really caught my eye. Plus at $7 it’s not a break the bank situation.

November Birchbox Unboxing

2017-11-25 12.25.49

Look at what is back! I’ve decided to start birchbox again. I cancelled Sephora Play because I just like to try different boxes. It’s been over a year since my last Birchbox and I wanted to see how they were doing.  I guess this months theme is ‘Get ready to prep, set, party!’ because the holidays are here and it’s time to dazzle. I feel like I got my Birchbox incredibly late this month and I hope next month I get it sooner.

Wilma Schumann Skincare – Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads – Full Size $18

“These pads are infused with pure collagen to hydrate, de-puff, and plum the undereye area. To use, place one pad under each eye and lean on for 20 minutes.”

I love Eye masks, I’ve never had a bad one and I am hoping that this one doesn’t let me down. This is the first time I am using Wilma Schumann Skincare so I am excited to try it out. The Full size comes with 5 patches, which is not a really bad price. This of course depends on how well they work.

2017-11-25 12.23.38

LAQA & Co.  – B’Lighter in Peacher’s Daughter – Full Size $17

“Part highlighter, part blush, this formula catches the light for a lit-from-within glow. Lightly dab onto your cheeck bones, brow bone, bridge of the nose, and cupid’s bow.”

This is pretty interesting considering it is a highlight and a blush. I am a little worried that it is a bit too pink for me to use as a highlighter. It is such a pretty color one that I can use as a blush if the highlighter part doesn’t work too well. I am always a bit skeptical of 2 in 1 products.

2017-11-25 12.23.52

2017-11-25 12.24.26  Stila Cosmetics – HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara – Full Size $23

“This inky black mascara lets your lashes go big in everyway. One coat leaves major volume, curl, and lots of length”

I am currently in the process of tossing my old mascaras so this could not have come at a better time. I am hoping it lives up to it’s name because I am really excited to use it. Stila cosmetics has yet to let me down, but I also have never tried one of their mascaras.

2017-11-25 12.24.59

Avene – Hydrance Intense Rehydrating Serum – Full size $38

“Boost hydration and your subsequent skincare steps with this soothing serum that’s safe for sensitive complexions”

Glad to hear that it’s safe for sensitive skin as my skin can be really sensitive at times. Hydrating is really important to me at this time of the year so I am really excited to see if this works. I’ve also never used this brand before so I can’t wait to try it out. It seems a little pricey, but I’ll see what it can do before I get judgy.

2017-11-25 12.25.34 Klorane – Shampoo with Mango Butter – Full Size $20

“Mangos are known for their restorative properties, making them ideal for this nourishing shampoo. Their fatty acide content heps heal dry, brittle hair as it cleanses.

I don’t mind getting shampoos and conditioners in my boxes, as long as I get them as a duo and the same size. The fact that this is not the same size kind of upsets and disappoints me. I like Klorane so ever if I got two packets shampoo and conditioners I would have been happier than to get a small bottle and one packet. I’ll just have to use it on those days I use leave-in conditioner.

So this months Birchbox was not too bad, but nothing wow’d me or impressed me. I did discover two new skincare brands so that is a plus. I’m hoping next month will be better. Also, Sorry about some of the blurry pictures, I had two cats and a puppy all vying for my attention and they refused to leave me be.

New Holy Grail Product; Macadamia Weightless Moisture Leave in Conditioner

2017-11-14 14.14.48

As you all know I’ve been wanting to try more hair products, but I am telling you right now that I think I found my Holy Grail Hair product. I know crazy right?

I have fine hair, not baby fine, but fine. My hair also tends to fall limp and can lean more towards the oily side. It’s why I’ve been trying volumizers and dry shampoo. I’ve had the Macadamia Weightless Moisture Leave-in Conditioner sitting in my hair care products for a while. No Idea why I’ve never picked it up, but I was a hair product fool! I should have started using it once I got it. I used this after showing when my hair is slightly damp, sometimes I don’t use conditioner and use this instead. Other times when I think my hair needs a pick me up because it looks lifeless and dull. Each time this product does not let me down. It really is weightless and does not feel heavy on my head.

Macadamia boosts that it’s weightless moisture leave-in conditioner; detangles and protects, Hydrates, and prevent breakage and I absolutely fully agree. I think this is the first time I’ve had a product that I absolutely adored and agreed with its claims. Its key ingredients are of course Macadamia oil, which helps nourish the hair in fatty acids. Argan Oil, which is what strengthen and repair. Last but not least, Quinoa extract which Hydrates and provides hair with its necessary nutrients.

If you don’t have fine hair, it’s okay Macadamia makes products for all hair types and their website is sectioned so you can easily find the products that you need. I don’t think $22 is at all pricey for a product I use almost all the time.

What do you think?

#SampleSunday Perfume Sample Pan Project

2017-11-25 11.55.52

You’ve probably heard of Pan Project before, A couple of bloggers and instagramers have done it and I really want to try it. I have so many samples but I did not realize how many perfume samples I had until now. So I decided to start with my perfume samples and what I perfect way than to feature it than on Sample Sunday. I’ve already picked three and have been alternating between them for everyday use.

2017-11-25 12.06.17

The first scent is Yogini by Harvey Prince and apparently, it is the scent of liberation. The scent is supposed to linger with you throughout the day and it does, as I have been told. I put it on in the morning before work and 9 hours later people can still smell it on me. The scent is a bit strong, stronger than I thought it would be, but with a perfume that features Sandalwood, Pink Grapefruit, Blackcurrant Buds and rose petals, I can see why.

Harajuku Lovers G is my favorite out of the three. It’s slightly fruity but has more of a citrusy base. This is a roller ball so I mostly roll it on my pulse points when I am in hurry. The scents in this one Green Apple, Peach, and Pineapple which I have to say is a combination I really like. There are stubble tones of Peony as well.

The third perfume is also Harvey Prince but it’s my favorite from the brand. Hello, no not the Adele song. Considering that this is cruelty-free and Vegan makes me love it even more. The Meyer Lemon gives this a wonderful soft lemon scent, while the Tahitian Vanilla and Pink Plumeria gives it a nice balance.

2017-11-25 12.06.50

As you can see I’m getting pretty low on these and I soon I’ll pick three more to replace these. Hopefully, I’ll like them just as much as these!

Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit

I got the Tarteist Lip Paint as my Sephora Birthday Gift, along with a tarte blush as well. I’ve used it a couple of times and I really like it. It has a bit of a peppermint smell and feel that really reminds me of Christmas despite the color not really matching. Tarteist Creamy Lip paint is a vegan full coverage lipstick that stays creamy throughout the day despite creating a matte look. Most matte lipsticks I’ve used dry my lips out to the point that you can see every wrinkle and imperfection, which really is not a flattering look. I didn’t have a problem with this lip paint as it stayed pretty creamy.

I was surprised at how easy it spread across my lips, despite the applicator feeling a bit flimsy ( I thought it was going to fall off if I applied too much pressure). The staying power was nice I only had to reapply after eating so that was great. It does transfer a bit so be careful against clothing and whatnot.

The color is a nice pinkish nude, that is great for any occasion. While it is a bit expensive ($20 per lipstick) I think it is worth the price and I am thinking about getting more colors like ‘So Fetch’ or ‘Lovespell’.

How you used Tareist Creamy Lip Paint? What did you think?

#ManicureMonday Thigh High; Ciate

2017-10-30 12.16.38

I’ve started painting my nails again. For a long time, I was in a motivation slump, not wanting to pluck my eyebrows, didn’t want to bother with painting my nails, and my hair constantly in a ponytail. Now though I am trying to gain that motivation back. First thing first paint my nails a gorgeous color. I picked ‘Thigh Highs” from Ciate because I needed something that will last until my next nail painting day. These days are usually on the weekend. While the polish didn’t last a full week, it chipped a day before, it lasted longer than I thought it would The color is a shiny deep blue that I felt looked great for fall. The application was smooth and one swipe was enough.
