I decided to treat myself and since e.l.f. was having a sale I decided to partake. I think I have mentioned before that I really like e.l.f because not only is their quality good and reliable, but it is extremely affordable.
3 piece Gift set includes Moisturizing Lipstick in Rosy-Go-Round, Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems, and The Silk Eyeshadow in Rose all day. This was a nice surprise as I actually completely forgot about it, so when I opened my package I also thought they messed up and sent me extra stuff. Massaging Facial Cleanser was something I added on a whim, I have never used one before, usually because these are expensive. This one was on sale and affordable so I thought “Why not?” I needed a new liquid liner, so when I saw the Intense Ink Eyeliner I had to get it. I had to toss a couple this week because of age or quality so I am hoping this one does not let me down. I didn’t notice until I got it that I purchased a Black Navy which I hope will look good with my brown eyes. I have been wanting to try the e.l.f. Active so I got the Workout Ready Lip Tint in Fearless Pink. I want to eventually try all the Active brand beauty items.
I needed a facial oil so I purchased the Nourishing Facial Oil. I really like the e.l.f skincare line so I am super eager to use this and see how this goes. I also purchased the Mattifying Mask, because I love me some masks! I have been wanting the Molten Liquid Eyeshadow in Rose Gold for a while and it is finally available and on sale, YAY! I got another Baked Highlighter this time in Moonlight pearls which I am super eager to use as I am finally feeling confident in using them. Last but not least the Lip Exfoliator in sweet cheery, I’ve used their exfoliators before so I am a huge fan!
Tried any of the products? What do you think about them?
So I took last week off, mostly because I was busy with the house. I have been moving stuff around and just doing a deep spring clean. My allergies have also been off the charts, and my sinuses have just been completely unpleasant. Plus, I also think that bloggers have to realize that it is okay to take some time off we don’t always need to be there. However, just because I wasn’t blogging, does not mean that I wasn’t pampering myself with face masks.
I’ve had the Yadah pomegranate vitalizing face mask for a while, and I finally decided to use it. It is meant to minimize the look of fine lines as well as moisturize the face. The mask was thin, which I liked and was covered with essence. There was a faint perfume smell, nothing pomegranate which I thought was a little weird, but it did not bother me. The Sheet covered my face fairly well (except for the nose, they never cover my nose).
The essence feed my skin and soaked up very well leaving my fave soft and feeling great. I do recommend this on those days that your face needs just a slight fix.
I can’t sleep in anymore, it is a proven fact. So instead of sitting around on my butt, I decided to be active. So loading the dogs and my husband in the car we set off for an easy hike. The trail we went on was only 2.7 miles so if we added it up we only hiked 5.4. It’s been almost a year since I’ve hiked anything so we took it slow since we are trying to get into the groove of it.
While the scenery was not much to look at, as it was mostly hills with bushes, it was really the cool fresh air I was breathing and the conversation that was the main focus. Just taking time out to enjoy nature and the simple things in life is what makes times like these special. The only time I had my phone on me was to quickly take these pictures and then I just put it away. I almost snapchatted, but I decided not to. I just wanted to live in the moment and enjoy. I did a post on Instagram but that was much later.
Sometimes we need to remember that there are simple things we can do to make ourselves happy.
So Monday I made a very spontaneous decision to cut my hair and I don’t mean just a trim either I mean 5+ inches to lob off. With summer approaching and just the desire to have a low maintenance hair, while also making sure I keep it healthy I decided to cut it off.
As you can see the ends were a lot lighter which is the result of various dye jobs. The ends were also split and because I had some layers it was all uneven. I also kinda just wanted to start fresh, sort of like a blank slate for my hair. My natural hair color is just a mousy brown, which I don’t usually like but while this sort of natural ombre was nice it kept getting tangled.
While the stylish went shorter than I asked and went a bit too liberal on the layers in the back, I’m old enough to know that hair grows back and to not be upset. I actually like it now that I have had a couple of days to really get used to it and make it me. I think I look funny with bed head because my hair literally sticks up everywhere.
What do you all think?
As you can see I absolutely love sunglasses! While yes they are made to protect your eyes from the sun, they are also the perfect ways to accessorize. Sunglasses have so much character and color and it can be one of the first things people notice when they see you. I love having a variety of Sunglasses at my disposal, so I can wear what ever matches my outfit or mood. I have silly fruit sunglasses, cheap sunglasses, designer, different colors and designs. I absolutely love em all! It doesn’t even matter what price (although I do stop myself if they are too expensive, like jeez I’m not that crazy) or style they are. I want to them all!
So Friend-wise I still have yet to meet anyone face to face, which leads me to have questions like:
Am I taking things to slow?
Do people even want to be my friend?
Should I just ask?
How long does one even wait until you ask someone to meet?
It’s just so hard trying to make friends when your no longer going to parties, around people the same age as you at school, or you know hate your job… but I am trying. I just didn’t realize how insecure you start to feel when you really want something as simple as making a friend.
I’m still having chats with people though, while some have fizzled out I still have quite a few that I keep up a steady stream of chatter with. Hopefully next week I will have an update, something that will give me (and you) hope that this whole internet friendship stuff works.
Who wants to wear shoes when you’re hot and sweaty? With summer coming up and a puppy who has just figured out that mommy gets mad when you eat her shoes, I decided to order some sandals. Now I like shoes and sandals that have character, I’m a big fan of anything unique or fun and when I saw these Wild Diva Slip Ons on Zulily I knew I wanted them. Now If you are not familiar with Zulily then you know that it is sort of like Hautelook, where they have discounted name brands that you can buy if you like, The shipping does take a while, however. I received these within 2 weeks so I was not too upset about the long shipping.
They really need to be broken in as they are super stiff and it is a bit hard to shove my feet into them and go. If you have wide feet you may want to stretch these out a bit before any long wear time. I was a bit hesitant about buying white sandals as white does show dirt easier than other colors. I decided to just bite the bullet as it is all about trying new things and just making myself happy.
The heart and thundercloud designs are colorful and creative and give the sandals a fun twist. Plus it’s sewed on surprisingly well so I am not worried that they are going to fall off.
It has been a while since I’ve given myself a manicure, much less paint my nails. Recently, however, I wanted to make sure I take better care of my nails, especially with summer rolling around my nails should be at least a little nice. While I did not go get a mani-pedi, I purchased a new nail polish and painted my nails. I actually don’t have very many Sally Hansen nail polishes, but when I saw Sally Hansen instadry Nail color in Sugar Poppy I needed to buy it. The color is such a happy one, that is perfect for spring and summer. Plus insta-dry is good especially since after I paint my nails I find myself having to do 10 million things with my hands.
Unfortunately, color is pretty, the formula was not so much. It was really thick, because they only want you to use one coat, the brush was really wide so I kept getting the polish all over my fingers. The polish did go on smoothly and dried really quickly which is great. I noticed though, that after a day the polish on my right hand did chip, which made me sad.
I did like it though, not sure if I will buy another color or not though.
So, I’ve been rediscovering my love for makeup recently and I can’t believe how much I have missed it. Just applying the primer before doing anything brings happiness to my inner soul. I am not even kidding either. I am now remembering why I go gaga and try to spend my entire paycheck at Sephora. If this is a good thing or a bad thing I honestly don’t care because it makes me happy, and my happiness is of the utmost importance. In shopping through my own makeup I noticed I have quite a few products from Bh Cosmetics, and there is a reason. Their products are affordable, Vegan and Cruelty-free, and gorgeous. That is why when I saw this Solar Flare palette I fell in love.
This palette is gorgeous with 18 brightly pigmented colors. The colors are very warm, which I thin compliment my brown eyes, but also would go well with any color eyes. The eyeshadows also had very minimal fall out with applied, which I think is due to them being baked. I’ve used other baked eyeshadows from different brands and they do not go on as smooth as the Solar Flare palette does.
Now, I can’t really say how long these last as I always use primer when applying shadows due to having more-than-normal oily lids, but I can say with the primer I used they lasted all day. You can use the shadows wet or dry which is a plus. There is also a little mirror attached to the palette which is cool, but I never use those mirrors.
My favorite colors are Galactic, Fireball and Gamma Ray but all the colors are great. For the price of $18, this palette is a huge steal and a must-have for any shadow lover.
Since moving to Idaho we have tried to make our new house feel like a home. It’s just my husband and me, so we try to make each other feel special. In order to do so, we have adopted a couple of traditions to make sure we don’t get homesick. Some we do together, others we do separately.
Saturday Morning Breakfast.
This is a huge breakfast that we make and eat together. It usually involves coffee, pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Sometimes we switch it up with some bagels and lox, pastries, or a quiche. We always eat together though, with no phones around and talk. This is the most important part.
Taking the dogs for a long walk
Now that we have Auri it’s really hard for one of us to walk the dogs. Auri is still a puppy and not used to the leash so she ends up winding it around the person walking her. This annoys the walker and Tesla, our other dog. We make sure that after breakfast we make time for the dogs as well. Taking them on a long walk around the neighborhood gives us a chance to go out, explore our area and exercise the dogs.
Taking time for a bath and audiobooks
I am not usually a big fan of audiobooks, but I am a huge fan of baths and reading. I don’t trust myself not to get the book I am reading wet so turning on an audiobook is the next best thing. The bath usually consists of a bath bomb, bath salts, or bubbles (because you are never too old for bubbles!). This is a time I have for myself, no cats, dogs or husband. Just me relaxing. Trust me it is great for your mental health.
This list isn’t very long but it is something we do every weekend that is sort of becoming a tradition. Do you have any traditions you do on the weekends?
